A summary administration of estate is commonly known as a "small probate". It is when a deceased person's assets are valued at less than $75,000. If they have been deceased for more than 2 years prior to opening a summary administration, then the $75,000 threshold would not apply. Any beneficiary or personal representative can open a summary administration and the process usually takes about 4-6 weeks from start to finish.
